Dr. José Ernesto Amorós Espinosa assumed the leadership of doctoral programs at EGADE Business School as of January 2016, where he is also currently a researcher and co-leader of the Strategic Research Group (GIEES) of Entrepreneurship and Leadership. Up to December 2015, he was a Professor in the School of Business and Economics , Universidad del Desarrollo, in Santiago, Chile, where he was also the Executive Director of the Entrepreneurship Institute and Coordinator of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) in Chile.
Additionally, he was a researcher at the Entrepreneurship Center of Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez Business School, Chile, where he made a post-doctorate within the Bicentennial Program of Science and Technology, CONICYT-WorldBank. He was also Director of Graduate Programs, Director of the B.S. in Business Administration and Coordinator of the Entrepreneurship Program at Tecnológico de Monterrey, San Luis Campus.
Dr. Amorós is a member of GEM´s board of directors and the Research Committee of same project. During his involvement in the GEM Project, he participated in the evaluation of pro-entrepreneurship public policies in different countries. He has been visiting researcher at the World Institute for Development Economics Research of the United Nations University (UNU-WIDER) and projects associated to the Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID) and the World Bank. He serves as Vice president of the Iberoamerican Academy of Management, and member of the Academy of Management, the Strategic Management Society, the Academy of International Business and the International Council of Small Business.
His scientific outreach includes the publishing of over 40 academic articles in important international journals, such as “Small Business Economics”, “International Entrepreneurship and Management Journal”, “Journal of Business Research”, “Journal of Small Business Management”, “Technovation” and “Frontiers of Entrepreneurship Research”. In addition, he is associate editor of the “Journal of Business Venturing Insights” and the “International Entrepreneurship and Management Journal”. He is also the co-author of more than 30 monographs about the entrepreneurial dynamics in Chile and worldwide in cooperation with important institutions like the World Economic Forum. Moreover, he is a member of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (National System of Researchers), SNI-Conacyt, and visiting professor in several Latin American and European universities.
Dr. Amorós holds a Ph.D. in Management Sciences (2005) from the Escuela Superior de Administración y Dirección de Empresas (ESADE) of the Universitat Ramon Llull (Barcelona, Spain). He also holds a master’s degree in Marketing (1998) from Tecnológico de Monterrey, where he previously obtained his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (1995).
