EGADE Business School students joined the AIM2Flourish initiative together with thousands of students from other business schools from around the world to identify and recognize the companies that, through innovation, are leading the way to a better world and helping to fulfil the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Using the SDG as a lens, the students poured their energy into investigating positive-impact business innovations, interviewing business leaders and sharing their stories through the AIM2Flourish.com platform, as sources of inspiration for others.

Four business innovation for social development stories researched by the School’s students were published on the aforementioned site, commented Dr. Consuelo García de la Torre. “The School joined the AIM2Flourish initiative through the MBA and Master of Finance core course ‘Corporate Sustainability’, in which students presented innovation stories as their final project. They investigated the business innovations and we professors helped them to determine which ones would be the most appropriate to present and fulfill the established guidelines,” explained the faculty member.

The stories, each on aligned with one of the 17 SDG, are:

  • Goal 3. Good health and well-being: Blooders, the first digital platform that links people who need blood donations to blood donors in Mexico. Research students: Andrés Huacuja, Jhovanna Jiménez, Adrián Monroy and Adriana Carrillo.
  • Goal 3. Good health and well-being: EcoZoom México, a project that provides affordable, safe and efficient wood-burning stoves to people who cook on solid-fuel, open fires inside their homes. Research student: Javier Bours.

  • Goal 5. Gender equality: Bolsa Rosa, the first and only job board in Mexico that targets women, in particular professional mothers, who are seeking flextime job opportunities. Research students: Melissa Hinojosa and Romina Schiavon.

  • Goal 13. Climate action: Bioconstrucción y Energía Alternativa (BEA) helps companies design, construct and maintain green buildings, assisting them in achieving diverse LEED certification levels. Research students: Ángel Peña and Erika Rodríguez.

The complete version of the four stories can be found here. Like these four, hundreds of business innovation for sustainable development stories from all over the globe were published on AIM2Flourish.com. From these, the 17 best innovations were selected (one for each of the 17 SDG) to receive an award at the Fourth Global Forum for Business as an Agent of World Benefit, held from June 14 through 16 at Case Western Reserve University, in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.

AIM2Flourish is an initiative of the Fowler Center for Business as an Agent of World Benefit at Case Western Reserve’s Weatherhead School of Management, co-sponsored by Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), a global network of academic institutions to which EGADE Business School belongs.
